Prolotherapy Definition

Prolotherapy is a non-surgical injection procedure, typically using a sugar-water solution, meant to relieve chronic pain. This therapy helps shorten and strengthen loose and damaged connective tissue (ligaments and tendons) that have not healed with rest or other non-surgical therapies. The goal of prolotherapy is to promote a healing response in the injured or weakened tissue, thereby alleviating pain and improving function. Prolotherapy is also referred to as proliferative injection therapy and non-surgical ligament reconstruction.
